He was having a rough day.
A rather fat Staffordshire Bull Terrier tried to squirm his way to freedom – but instead got stuck in his owner’s front gate.
Stephen Morando, who goes by @papamoandwillow on TikTok, revealed to his followers that he saw the chubby plight as he drove past – stopping to help the not-so-tiny terrier.
“Pupper was definitely trying to escape, but there was some extra food to get his belly between the bars,” Morando told Newsweek.
The one-minute-and-11-second clip shows the character stuck in the middle — with an American bulldog sitting next to him — for what some might consider emotional support.
“This puppy was bigger than he thought,” Morando joked about the fat dog online.
The Australian man couldn’t help but notice the fat black and white dog stuffed like a sausage between the metal bars.
“Not believing what I just saw, I hit the brakes and took off,” he added. “I don’t think anyone would have believed me if I hadn’t caught it on camera.”
Morando noticed that half of the hound’s body was outside the gate, while its back was still behind the fence.
Although Morando rushed to help the hapless animal, the pup seemed unfazed by what appeared to be a recurring issue – judging by the bent bars.
The Good Samaritan was able to push the dog behind the gate. However, the precocious animal can be seen instantly making another escape attempt.
After enough persuasion, Morando was able to get the dog to stay back long enough to pull the bars together, eliminating any chance of the dog escaping.
The video was circulated with over 327,000 pairs of eyeballs – among them the Taurus owners who were defying the limits.
They hastened to express their gratitude to the kind stranger.
“Thank you very much. We recently moved and he is just starting to do this. We have no idea how his shoulders are doing, chubba chubba. Legend”, they assessed.
Many people on the Internet found this scenario hysterical.
“The dog is absolutely zero help at all,” laughed one observer.
“Sounds like a good way to get people to stop for a pet if you ask me,” added another.
“Obviously not his first rodeo – look at the curve in all those bars,” one TikToker commented.
“Not all heroes wear capes, so they say, good for friends,” one man applauded.
“He’s a Staffy. They’re all weird, – laughed another. “Thanks for helping him.”
The would-be escapee isn’t the first overweight animal to attempt a run to make global headlines recently.
As previously reported by The Post, a 38-pound Russian rescue cat named Crumbs got stuck in a shoe rack while trying to escape the fat camp — his cute face smashed into a pair of Crocs.
“He was extremely unhappy when we found him disguised as a slipper, but… after a bit of food, he calmed down,” Crumbs’ carer revealed.
The runaway cat was discovered by shelter staff trying to avoid his strict diet and exercise regimen, Newsflash reported.
Crumbs’ ill-fated escape attempt was actually a good sign, they said – it showed he’s a “very active guy”.
